No major rainfall in J&K till April-end, dry weather likely: MeT

 Srinagar, Apr 22 : The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday said Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain largely dry till the end of April, with only isolated brief spells of rain and thundershowers on select dates.

Director of the MeT Centre Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said no major weather activity is expected in the Union Territory till the month-end, barring short spells around April 24-25 and April 29-30.

He said the weather will remain generally dry on April 22-23, though light rain may occur at a few places towards late afternoon.

For April 24-25, the MeT has forecast partly to generally cloudy conditions with one or two brief spells of light rain or thundershower at scattered to many places, accompanied by gusty winds during late afternoon and evening hours.

On April 26, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry, though brief light rain may occur at isolated places in the afternoon. April 27-28 will likely remain generally dry, the MeT added.

The weatherman further said April 29-30 and May 1-2 may witness generally cloudy conditions with brief spells of light rain or thundershower at a few places, mainly during late afternoon. (KNS)
