Srinagar, Nov 29 : Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) Vice Chairman Mohammad Rafi on Saturday said the administration has started an exercise of checking deviation of building permissions by shopkeepers and building holders in the city on commercial units allotted to them by the authority.

Rafi told Kashmir News Service(KNS) that it has come to the notice of authorties that several shopkeepers have raised structures beyond the permisable limits on the premises provided to them on rent by the SDA.

He said multiple complaints have also been received in this regard.

“Notices have already been served to many shopkeepers. They have been asked to explain their position regarding the illegal constructions on allotted shops,” he said.

The Vice Chairman clarified that there is currently no demolition drive planned against these structures. “These are SDA properties, so there is no question of demolition. The process at present is limited to verification and collection of full data,” Rafi said.

He added that further action as warranted under law will be taken after responses to the notices are examined.(KNS).
