Srinagar, Sept 25 : The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has said that more than 13,000 consumers have so far benefited from the ongoing Power Amnesty Scheme for the year 2025–26.

The scheme, announced through Government Order No. 114-JKPDD of 2025 on August 4, offers a 100% waiver on interest and surcharge for pending electricity bills of domestic consumers up to March 31, 2025.

According to officials as Per Kashmir News Service – KNS , 13,189 consumers have availed the scheme, helping KPDCL recover ₹7.53 crore in the current phase. The Corporation said this trend reflects growing consumer trust and will also strengthen its financial health while giving households a chance to settle their arrears and continue services smoothly.

KPDCL has launched awareness campaigns and facilitation drives to encourage participation. The corporation has appealed to all eligible consumers who have not yet enrolled to visit their nearest KPDCL Sub-Division office at the earliest and take advantage of the scheme.

Officials said the Amnesty Policy is aimed at public welfare, providing an easy and consumer-friendly way for families to clear their dues.(KNS)
