Srinagar, May 22 : National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being responsible for the “destruction” of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
“They finished 375, they finished 335. They are responsible for the destruction of our state. I am sorry to say they are not ashamed. They are taking us towards destruction,” the former chief minister told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
Targeting the BJP, Dr Farooq Abdullah alleged that the party has “nothing better to do” with its own campaigns and asserted that the National Conference does not have to answer for them.
Dismissing speculation of any rift in the opposition alliance, he termed it a rumour spread by “enemies”. “The alliance is already there. Nothing is going to happen to the alliance,” he said.
On global geopolitics, the former chief minister expressed hope for an end to hostilities between Iran and the United States. “I hope the war between Iran and the United States will end. And God willing, we will get out of this trouble,” he said.
Asked about a demolition drive in the Sidra area, NC president distanced himself from the matter. “What can I say? We are not involved in this. The investigation is being carried out,” he said.
Responding to the PDP’s claim that a model like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is being created in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah advised the party to introspect. “They should first look at themselves. What trouble they have brought for the people here,” he added. (KNS)
