New Delhi, Jan 5 : Union Power Minister Shri Manohar Lal on Monday concluded his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the progress of key power projects in the Union Territory. On the first day of his visit, the Minister reviewed the Salal, Sawalkot and Ratle hydroelectric projects.

Later in the evening, the Minister arrived at NHPC’s Dulhasti Power Station in Kishtwar, where he was received by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), and Shri Ramesh Mukhiya, Managing Director, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPP), along with other officials of NHPC and CVPP.

On Monday, Manohar Lal inspected all three CVPP projects—Pakal Dul (1000 MW), Kiru (624 MW) and Kwar (540 MW)—and held a review meeting with project heads and contractors. The CMD, NHPC, briefed the Minister in detail on various aspects of the three under-construction projects, following which Shri Manohar Lal issued directions to commission the Pakal Dul and Kiru projects by December 2026 and the Kwar project by March 2028.

The Minister also interacted with local residents and workers at various work sites and patiently listened to their issues. After reviewing the works, he appreciated the officers and workers for performing their duties under challenging conditions and wished them success in their endeavours. (KNS)
