Srinagar, Oct 22 : Member of Parliament Srinagar and znational Conference leader Agha Ruhullah said he is prepared to stand with students if they are forced to take to the streets again over the long-pending issue of reservation.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Ruhullah said that his support for students is unwavering and that he will continue to fight for issue-based demands until resolutions are implemented.

“I don’t want the students to suffer. Despite delays, if the issue forces them to protest again, I am ready for that too. I am still standing with the students,” he said.

Ruhullah said out that the sub-committee report on reservation, promised to students months ago, has yet to be put before. “First of all, the political struggle that should have been there is not happening. Reservation is one of the local issues, and it is a very big issue. The report was submitted, but it seems it has not been taken forward yet,” he said.

He added that he has assured students of his continued support and is ready to resume their cause whenever they deem it necessary. “I have given them this assurance that whenever they think it is right, if we have to resume from that date, I am ready to do so. Internally, this issue is neither dead nor back-footed for me,” Ruhullah said.

On the Budgam bypolls, Ruhullah said that his participation or support was conditional. “Even regarding Budgam, my main demand remained the same, the reservation report must be put before the cabinet and a decision made public. Only then will discussions on other matters proceed,” he said.

Ruhullah said that his fight is strictly issue-based and continues unabated. “I am not dead nor back-footed. In whichever way I can fight, I am fighting the same fight, and I am not doing anything other than that,” he added.(KNS)
