Kulgam, July 27 (TKM): Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Sunday visited Zangalpora village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district to take firsthand account of local developmental issues and grievances of the residents.

Addressing a large public gathering, Minister Sakeena reiterated the Government’s commitment to inclusive growth and people-centric governance under the leadership of Omar Abdullah. “Our priority is to ensure that public welfare schemes reach the grassroots level effectively,” she said.

During the visit, she interacted with locals and patiently listened to their concerns, assuring them that all genuine demands will be taken up with the concerned departments for timely redressal.

The Minister informed that a Rs. 4 crore flood protection project has already been sanctioned to safeguard the area, and instructions have been issued for the development of a local playfield to promote youth engagement in sports.

Locals raised several key demands, including establishment of a Primary Health Centre, improvement in drinking water supply through filtration plant extension, upgradation of infrastructure at the local Government High School, staff augmentation in vital departments, and establishment of an Animal Husbandry Centre to support rural livelihoods.

On the occasion, the Minister also distributed sports kits among local youth and encouraged them to actively participate in sports and physical activities.(TKM)
