Srinagar, Oct 14 : Jammu and Kashmir Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday reviewed several issues concerning the Transport, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FS&CA) and Information Technology departments, including pending transport subsidies, vehicle scrappage policy and the operationalisation of automated vehicle testing stations.

During a meeting with Commissioner Secretary Transport R Alice Vaz, the minister discussed the proposed vehicle scrappage policy, ease of doing business, revenue generation through departmental assets and the operationalisation of Automated Testing Stations (ATS) at Pampore and Nagrota.

The meeting also reviewed pending subsidy cases and concerns raised by various transport associations.

Sharma took up the issue of buses reportedly stranded in Delhi awaiting delivery from the Government of India and called for coordination with the concerned authorities to resolve the matter.

He directed officials to address the concerns of transporters, expedite pending cases and simplify departmental procedures.

The minister subsequently met Commissioner Secretary FS&CA Saurabh Bhagat and reviewed issues concerning the functioning of the department and the delivery of essential services.

He stressed the need for timely disposal of pending matters and improvement in public service delivery.

In a separate meeting with IT Secretary Rahul Yadav, Sharma discussed the implementation of information technology initiatives and measures to strengthen digital governance and technology-enabled public services.

He called for better coordination among officials and timely implementation of departmental programmes.

Meanwhile, a deputation from Ganderbal led by Sheikh Javaid met the minister and raised several public grievances and development-related issues concerning the district.

Sharma assured the delegation that the matters would be examined and taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate action.

A delegation of a human rights organisation led by Abrar Lone also met the minister and discussed issues concerning the organisation and its members.

The minister assured the delegation that the issues raised would be examined under the applicable rules and procedures.(KNS)
