Seven-Day Winter Carnival Ends at Gulmarg, Winners Honoured

Gulmarg, Jan 6 : The seven-day Winter Carnival organised by the Tourism Department at Gulmarg concluded on Tuesday with a closing ceremony at the Gulmarg Convention Centre.

Players who secured top positions in different competitions were awarded during the ceremony. Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority, Tariq Hussain, attended the event as chief guest. Assistant Director Tourism Gulmarg Tahir Wani, SDPO Tangmarg Faizan Ali, Army officers and other officials were also present.

A large number of players, tourists and local residents attended the concluding ceremony.

During the carnival, several activities including skiing competitions, cricket matches and painting competitions were held. Participants from different states of the country took part and displayed their skills.

Speaking on the occasion, officials said Gulmarg is a major tourist destination and attracts visitors throughout the year. They said the Winter Carnival was organised to promote tourism and provide opportunities for sports and cultural activities.

Officials added that similar events will be organised in the future to further promote tourism and strengthen Gulmarg’s position as a winter tourism destination. (KNS)
