JAMMU, FEB 07 ; The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday admitted to legislative delays in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), citing administrative hurdles, litigation and weather disruptions as primary causes.

In a written reply to a query by Legislator Shamima Firdous in the Legislative Assembly, the government as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) acknowledged that in certain cases, examinations could not be held as per the scheduled timeframe.

The Minister-in-Charge stated that the delays were “mainly due to administrative exigencies” such as availability of examination centres, adverse weather, court litigations, and time taken in verification of eligibility documents.

The government, however, emphasised that recruitment is carried out by concerned agencies “in accordance with prescribed rules, procedures and within the notified timelines.”

Outlining steps to streamline the process, the reply highlighted rationalisation of exam schedules, adoption of technology-driven systems, strengthening of manpower, and close monitoring of recruitment timelines.

The government asserted that the JKSSB has already issued an advance calendar for various examinations to be held in 2026, which is being “strictly followed” to ensure transparency and timely completion of recruitment.

The measures, according to the reply, are aimed at ensuring “complete transparency and fairness” in the recruitment process. (KNS)
