Srinagar, Jul 21 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the Centre has assured all possible assistance to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the flash floods that have ravaged Rajouri, Poonch, and Doda districts.
LG Sinha, who was addressing the valedictory function of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan at SKICC here, said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to him on Sunday and promised full support from the Central Government, as per the news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah held detailed discussions with me and assured that the Government of India will provide every possible assistance and support to the affected families,” LG Sinha said.
The Lt Governor also paid tributes to those who lost their lives in the natural calamity.
“I pay my heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in the flash floods in Rajouri, Poonch, and Doda. I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families,” he said.
LG Sinha said the civil administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other rescue agencies are working round the clock in the affected areas to ensure timely relief and minimise the impact of the disaster.
“The civil administration, police, and all concerned agencies are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Every possible effort is being made to reduce the hardships faced by the affected people and restore normalcy at the earliest,” he added.
Official sources said multiple teams of the NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in the worst-affected areas, while relief camps have been set up to provide shelter, food, and medical aid to the displaced families. (KNS)
