Srinagar, Jul 23 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday corrected Union Minister J P Nadda over his remarks on the JKSSB paper leak scandal, asserting that the incident took place in 2022 when the Union Territory was under the administrative control of the Lt Governor.
Taking to X, CM Omar Abdullah responded to Nadda’s press conference on Wednesday where the Union Health Minister had accused the National Conference and Congress of maintaining silence on paper leak issues.
“You are absolutely correct about the SSB paper leak in J&K @JPNadda ji but you have got the date wrong. It was 2022,” CM Omar posted.
“The government wasn’t of NC and Congress. It was a government headed by Lt. Governor but thank you for reminding everyone of this failure. It involved these observations & orders of the J&K High Court,” he added.
The Chief Minister attached a portion of the High Court order that had directed the then LG-led administration to constitute a high-powered committee, headed by a retired judge, to probe the “brazen irregularities” of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
“We have no idea what happened to the High Level Committee or its report. Perhaps you can share that with us in your next press conference,” CM Omar said.
Notably, the JKSSB had cancelled recruitment examinations for posts of sub-inspectors, junior engineers, and finance accounts assistants in 2022 following widespread allegations of paper leaks and corruption. The administration had drawn flak for engaging Mumbai-based Aptech Limited for conducting computer-based tests, despite the company being blacklisted by multiple state governments over alleged malpractices.
