New Delhi, Mar 24 ; Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, on Tuesday announced that he will donate his one month’s salary for the reconstruction of a school in Iran where over 100 children were killed, and called upon the Government of India to adopt a compassionate and balanced approach in global affairs.

Raising the issue during a discussion on Finance Grants in the Lower House, Baramulla MP as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said humanity must rise above political boundaries when innocent lives are lost. Referring to the tragic school strike in Iran, he said the pain of affected families demanded solidarity and action.

“I will donate my one month’s salary for rebuilding that school where over a hundred children lost their lives. This is a small contribution, but it reflects our responsibility towards humanity,” he said.

The MP also highlighted the response of people in Kashmir, stating that citizens had come forward in large numbers to support the victims. He urged India to stand with Iran in the face of such human tragedy.

In his address, MP Er. Rashid also demanded a special package to compensate Jammu and Kashmir for losses suffered under the Indus Water Treaty. He raised concern over reports of historical figures being “erased” by a section of students in Jammu, terming such attempts as “unjust” and cautioning that rewriting history had always proved disastrous.

He further called for a high-level national commission to probe disproportionate wealth accumulated over the past three decades by politicians, bureaucrats, police officials and sections of the media, arguing that recovery of such assets could help reduce economic inequality.

MP Er. Rashid also stressed the need for targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions in underserved regions, and reiterated his demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, along with focused development for border and remote areas. (KNS)
