Pahalgam, Jun 7 : The India Junior Golf Carnival 2026 concluded successfully at the Lidder Valley Golf Course here on Sunday, with officials terming the event a key step towards promoting sports tourism in the region.

The two-day tournament, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with Innovative Sports and Leisure, witnessed participation from nearly 60 junior golfers, including 29 from outside the Union Territory.

Director of Tourism Kashmir, Syed Qamar Sajjad, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He underlined the significance of sports tourism in showcasing Jammu and Kashmir as a leading destination for national and international sporting events, particularly golf.

“The India Junior Golf Carnival not only nurtures sporting excellence among youth but also strengthens tourism by fostering friendship and cultural exchange,” Sajjad said.

Players, coaches, and family members lauded the world-class facilities at the Lidder Valley Golf Course and the hospitality extended by the organisers.

At the prize distribution ceremony, officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting junior golf through regular events.

The chief guest stressed that continuous upgradation of golf infrastructure would further strengthen the region’s position as a premier golf destination. (KNS)
