Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Saturday extended an open invitation to travellers to experience the beauty of Kashmir during the upcoming winter season, assuring that the administration has made comprehensive arrangements to handle both public services and tourist activities.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, Garg said that winters are part of the Valley’s rhythm, returning every year with challenges that the administration continuously works to meet more efficiently. “Winters are not new to us. Every season gives us the opportunity to improve our systems and ensure better preparedness for the next one,” he said as per KNS.

He mentioned that the Chief Secretary has already directed departments to take proactive steps for winter management, with both divisional and district-level officers carrying out frequent ground assessments. “Whether it’s about maintaining essential services, ensuring smooth transportation, or setting up response teams, all departments have been aligned for coordinated action,” Garg noted.

The Divisional Commissioner said the government’s focus this year is not just on maintaining services during snowfalls but also on using the season to draw visitors to the Valley’s snow-covered landscapes. “Kashmir in winter offers a unique experience — from skiing in Gulmarg to the frozen beauty of Dal Lake. We are working to make this season more welcoming for tourists,” he said.

According to Garg, the administration has finalized detailed plans for snow clearance, power supply, and emergency response. Control rooms are being established in every district to handle weather-related issues quickly, and helplines will remain active for both residents and visitors. “We want everyone — locals and tourists — to move around safely and enjoy the season without inconvenience,” he said.

Tourism, he said, remains central to the region’s winter strategy. “All popular destinations have been reviewed. Accommodation, road connectivity, and communication facilities are in place so that no one faces disruption,” Garg added.(KNS).
