Srinagar, Oct 9: The Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has announced an extension in the admission deadline for students seeking enrollment into Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP) for the academic session 2025–2026.

According to the official notification issued by Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director of Colleges J&K, the revised last date for admission has been extended to October 14, 2025. This extension applies specifically to passouts of the Secondary School Examination (Class 12th) – Session Annual Private Biannual 2025, who are seeking admission into FYUGP with multiple-exit options across degree colleges of Jammu and Kashmir, subject to the availability of vacant seats.

The decision follows multiple representations received by the department requesting more time for admissions. The department clarified that all other terms and conditions outlined in the earlier notification (vide No. DC-HE/2025/1965 dated 26-09-2025) shall remain unchanged.

The FYUGP structure allows for flexible exit points, as per the New Education Policy, and is being implemented across degree colleges in J&K. The move is expected to benefit a large number of students, particularly private candidates from the latest session, by giving them an extended opportunity to apply.

The notice has been circulated to all universities, colleges, and concerned departments, including the University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Cluster Universities, and relevant education officials.

Additionally, it has been directed that the information be published in all leading newspapers across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for at least three days.
The updated notice is also available on the official website of the Directorate of Colleges, J&K.(KNS).
