Srinagar Feb 09 : Jammu and Kashmir created history in domestic cricket on Monday by defeating Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 quarterfinal at Holkar Stadium, Indore, to enter the semi-finals for the first time.
The memorable win was powered by an outstanding bowling performance, led by fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who played a decisive role in both innings.
Nabi picked up 12 wickets in the match, regularly breaking Madhya Pradesh’s batting and turning the game in J&K’s favour at crucial moments.
Although J&K posted modest totals with the bat, their bowlers dominated the contest. Nabi’s strong spell in the first innings helped J&K take an important lead, while his pace and accuracy in the second innings triggered a collapse in the MP lineup.
With good support from the rest of the bowling attack and alert fielding, J&K kept Madhya Pradesh under constant pressure. MP were eventually bowled out as J&K sealed a famous 56-run victory.
The win ends J&K’s long wait for a semi-final spot and marks a major milestone, highlighting the team’s growing strength in India’s top domestic cricket tournament.(KNS)
