Srinagar, Jan 13 : The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) will declare the results of Class 10 and Class 12 examinations on January 14, Chairman Ghulam Hassan Sheikh said on Tuesday.

Sheikh, who was recently given the additional charge of Chairman while continuing as Secretary of the Board, Speaking with news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the results would be announced as per the commitment made by the government.

“As already announced by the Education Minister Sakina Itoo, the Board will declare the results on January 14. We are committed to honouring that announcement,” Sheikh said.
He said the Class 10 results would be declared around 10.30 am, followed by the Class 12 results at around 2 pm on the same day.

“The results will be available on the JKBOSE website. In addition, result links will also be shared through digital platforms to ensure easy access for students,” he said.

Sheikh said the Board had made all necessary arrangements to declare both results on a single day, a practice that was introduced last year to reduce anxiety among students.
“The government wanted timely declaration of results last year as well, and both Class 10 and Class 12 results were announced on the same day. That benchmark has been maintained this year also,” he said.

He said timely declaration of results helps students focus on the next stage of their academic journey.

“When results are delayed, students remain anxious and are unable to concentrate on their next class or future plans. Timely results free them from that uncertainty,” Sheikh said.

The JKBOSE chairman said the overall performance of students this year had improved compared to previous years.
“The overall result is better than last year. In fact, it is the best so far. The pass percentage is high and very few students have failed,” he said, adding that students would receive results in line with their hard work.

Asked whether girls had outperformed boys or vice versa, Sheikh said the Board does not conduct such analysis at the examination stage.

“We are an examination body. Academic analysis and pedagogical assessment are done by the concerned directorates. At this stage, we focus on conducting examinations and declaring results,” he said.

Sheikh said the Board had not yet examined the merit list as it was still engaged in pre-declaration formalities.

On steps taken to improve accessibility and transparency, Sheikh said several services of the Board had been decentralised to district-level sub-offices.

“Earlier, students had to travel to Srinagar or Jammu for corrections related to spelling, date of birth, parentage or transcription errors. We have decentralised these services to district sub-offices,” he said.

He said standard operating procedures (SOPs) had been issued to ensure uniformity and accountability in handling such cases.

“Students can now approach their district sub-offices, complete formalities there, and the cases are processed periodically after due verification,” he said.

In his message to students, Sheikh urged them to remain positive, irrespective of their results.

“Class 10 and 12 are important milestones, but they are not the end of one’s academic journey. Those who have not done well should identify their weaknesses and work harder,” he said.

He also appealed to parents not to put undue pressure on children.

“There are many examples of people who did not perform well initially but went on to succeed later in life. Parents should support and encourage their children,” he added.(KNS)
