Srinagar, Jun 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday dismissed former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s allegations of backdoor appointments as baseless, and hit back by recalling her party’s record, saying “ulta chor kotwal ko dante”

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Zadibal, CM Omar as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said Mehbooba Mufti’s charges were unfounded and pointed to the backdoor recruitments made during the PDP-BJP coalition rule.

“Have we forgotten that Mehbooba Mufti’s maternal uncle Sartaj Madni’s son was appointed through a backdoor and later removed following court orders?” CM Omar asked. He also referred to the alleged backdoor appointments in the Jammu and Kashmir Bank during the PDP-BJP tenure, which are still under investigation by probe agencies.

“I am ready to respond if any allegation is backed by evidence. Give me one name of a backdoor appointee under my government, and I will clarify. But I will not respond to baseless charges,” the Chief Minister said.

He further announced that in the coming days, two of his ministers would address the press and present all relevant facts before the public.

CM Omar also spoke about the significance of the month of Muharram and the 10th of Muharram, Ashura, and stressed the importance of remembering the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). He expressed hope that the Ashura procession would soon return to its original route, adding that his government had made sincere efforts in the past and would continue to do so. (KNS)
