Srinagar December 25 (KNS): Joint Director Tourism Kashmir, Waseem Raja on Thursday said that the tourism department in collaboration with other stakeholders is organizing series of events to increase the tourist footfall and there has been slight increase in the influx after the fresh spell of snowfall.

Talking to media as per KNS, he said that the upcoming months are packed with series of promotional events in collaboration with all other stakeholders, comprising roadshows across the country to increase the footfall.

It has always been a tradition that all the festivals, be it Christmas, Lohri or New Year, the people of Kashmir celebrate with the tourists and share their happiness. So, it has always been a tradition here. This time also, you saw how the local people are celebrating Christmas with the tourists, he said.

He also said that with this fresh snowfall there has been slight increase in the footfall, the hotels are packed, it’s picking up and it’s picking up nicely. Even after New Year, we will try and hope, pray that our footfall continues even after New Year and not only in winter, but we have to think about the upcoming spring and summer seasons also, he added.

The Tourism Department, in collaboration with all the stakeholders are determined that we will leave no stone unturned to increase the influx and the media also plays a positive role in increasing the footfall, we need to create an atmosphere of festivity all across Kashmir, he added. (KNS)
