Srinagar, 17 May : The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of All J&K Shia Association (AJKSA), along with religious scholars, carried out moon sighting observations for the sacred month of Zul Hijjah 1447 AH at the Meteorological Department office, Rambagh Srinagar.

After careful observation and Shari’ah verification, it was confirmed that the crescent moon of Zul Hijjah was not sighted either by the AJKSA Ruet-e-Hilal Committee or by other moon sighting committees across India. No reliable or authenticated Sharai witness regarding the sighting of the moon was received from any part of the country.

Accordingly, in light of Islamic principles relating to Ruet-e-Hilal and based upon the absence of verified testimony, the 1st of Zul Hijjah 1447 AH will fall on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

The AJKSA delegation present during the moon sighting observation was led by AJKSA Spokesperson Molvi Sheikh Zakri, AJKSA Spokesperson Molvi Syed Mohammed, Imam-e-Jummah Gupkar Syed Gazanfer Rizvi, Molvi Firoz Ali of Jamia Imam Sadiq (AS), and AJKSA Media Incharge Rahi Shamshad.

AJKSA prayed that Almighty Allah bless the Muslim Ummah with peace, unity, acceptance of Ibadaat and prosperity.(KNS)
