Srinagar, Jan 19 : The Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), presided over a high-level security review meeting here on Monday to assess preparations for the Republic Day celebrations.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), senior officers briefed the DGP on current intelligence inputs, existing security deployments, and operational readiness. The discussions focused on comprehensive measures to fortify security protocols, protect public spaces, and ensure the seamless execution of events at all designated venues across the Valley.

During the meeting, DGP Prabhat assigned specific responsibilities to officers, issuing strict directives for their precise implementation. Key areas of deliberation included crowd management, traffic regulation, actionable intelligence, strategic force deployment, and the security of vulnerable installations.

The DGP underscored the imperative for foolproof arrangements. He directed district police chiefs to maintain vigilant monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation that could threaten public order and safety.

Officers were also instructed to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and enhance area domination exercises. The Traffic Police Wing was tasked with formulating a detailed and effective traffic management plan to facilitate the smooth movement of the general public and protected persons.

Security provisions for national highways, lateral roads, railway tracks, and stations throughout the Valley were also thoroughly reviewed.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) for Kashmir was directed to implement a robust security blueprint for the main Republic Day function venue, accounting for all potential contingencies.

The meeting added with a unanimous resolve from all attending agencies and departments to work in close coordination to ensure peaceful and secure Republic Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
