Sopore, August 13 : With the nation gearing up to celebrate its 80th Independence Day, Director General of Police J&G Nalin Prabhat, accompanied by IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, on Thursday undertook a comprehensive security review in north Kashmir’s Sopore, with a specific focus on the police districts of Baramulla and Sopore.
The high-level meeting, held amidst heightened alert, witnessed a detailed appraisal of the ongoing counter-terrorism grid and the robustness of area domination exercises currently in place. The DGP stressed upon the officers to maintain utmost vigilance and ensure that security apparatus functions with minimal disruption to the daily lives of citizens.
“We must strike a balance between stringent security and public convenience,” the DGP reportedly told the gathering, which included DIG NKR Vinod Kumar, SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, and SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib.
The review also focused on strengthening synergy among all security agencies operating in the region. Emphasising the need for seamless intelligence sharing, the DGP directed the field staff to ensure foolproof and peaceful conduct of the August 15 celebrations. Later, the top brass carried out a thorough field inspection of the security arrangements in place across the valley’s strategic points. (KNS)
