Bandipora, June 25 : In a proactive step to ensure the safety of pilgrims during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), conducted a comprehensive security review at the Shadipora Transit Camp in Bandipora today.

He was accompanied by SSP Bandipora Harmeet Singh (JKPS), Commandant 45 Bn CRPF Apoorwa, Commandant SSB Adhoc 16 Bn Shashi Shekhar, Commandant SSB Adhoc 17 Bn Kastoori Lal, SDPO Sumbal Mohd Amin, and SHO Sumbal Chota Lal (JKPS, Probationary Dy.SP), along with senior officers from J&K Police, CRPF, and SSB.

The inspection included detailed assessments of mock drills simulating real-life situations such as crowd surges, emergency responses, and evacuations. These drills were designed to test coordination among multiple security and emergency response agencies.

Special focus was placed on verifying troop deployment along the Yatra routes, ensuring alignment with the multi-layered security plan. The DIG emphasized the importance of clear, role-based Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all security personnel. These SOPs cover key areas such as surveillance, intelligence sharing, traffic management, convoy regulation, and rapid emergency response, and are mandatory for all forces involved.

During the visit, the DIG and the accompanying officers also evaluated surveillance systems including CCTV coverage, the emergency response framework, and logistical support infrastructure. This included traffic flow, sanitation, and contingency measures essential for a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

The review underlines the administration’s commitment to ensuring a secure and well-organized Yatra for all pilgrims. (KNS)
