Srinagar, Apr 13 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday launched a people’s movement against narcotics under the ‘Drug-Free Jammu Kashmir’ campaign, asserting that the next three months would lay the foundation for a lasting transformation in the Union Territory.

Addressing a public rally in Kathua, LG Sinha as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) emphasised that the campaign’s focus would be on compassionate rehabilitation, urging a fundamental shift in societal mindset.

“We must shift our mindset: addicts are patients and they need our help and support,” the Lt Governor said.

Calling upon the public to confront the drug menace with unyielding resolve, LG Sinha stressed the need to channel the energy of the youth constructively.

“Let us build a J&K where our youth’s energy illuminates the world, not destroys itself,” he added.

The Lt Governor further asserted that the drive over the next three months would not be a routine campaign but a transformative initiative aimed at bringing enduring change to the region. (KNS)
