Srinagar, Mar 27 : National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday expressed concern over the prevailing situation, saying, “The situation of war is in front of you,” and prayed for its end.

“We all pray that may Allah end this war. May peace come and we live in peace,” Dr. Abdullah told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

When asked about the ongoing conflict, the veteran leader refrained from making any direct comment, terming it a matter involving major powers.

“Now this is a question of great powers. I can’t say anything about this. I just pray to Allah that may Allah somehow save us from this,” he said.

Reacting to the remarks made by his son, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, regarding the situation—”We request the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) to try to de-escalate this war”—he said, “He has said it. What can I say? He has said a good thing,” Dr. Abdullah added.

The former Chief Minister, however, evaded further questions, saying, “Please leave me alone.” (KNS)
