Jammu, Apr 21 : The goal of a developed India by 2047 is not merely a date but a national resolve, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Monday, as he called upon people to carry forward the ideals of renowned social worker Vijay Bahadur Singh to every segment of society.

Unveiling Singh’s statue in Ghazipur, Sinha described the founder of Mahamandaleshwar Bal Krishna Yati Inter College as a “true karma-yogi” who served without expectation or desire for fame and built institutions for future generations.

“We must build the India our freedom fighters once dreamed of – an India where every section and every individual is part of the mainstream of progress,” Sinha said.

Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lt Governor asserted that the country is moving decisively towards becoming a developed nation, taking development beyond mere statistics and carrying it to every doorstep.

“Crores of families who once had no roof over their heads now have their own homes, bringing them dignity and security,” he said.

Sinha highlighted that roads have reached every village, the number of airports has doubled, and the digital revolution has connected every section of society.

“Today the marginalised have bank accounts, an identity, and smartphones for financial transactions – this is not merely technological progress but social empowerment,” he added.

He also noted that new schools, universities, and the new education policy are building an India where youth hold the reins of the future, with unprecedented facilities for girls. (KNS)
