Srinagar, July 29 (TKM): Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, on Monday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and briefed him about the recently concluded Operation Mahadev. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police for the success of Operation Mahadev, which was conducted in the challenging terrain of Dachigam forest. The high-risk mission led to the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists involved in the recent heinous terror attack in Pahalgam.

GOC-in-C Northern Command informed the Lieutenant Governor that search operations had been underway in the South Kashmir-Dachigam forest belt for the past few months, following consistent intelligence reports about terrorist presence in the region.

He further briefed that acting on specific intelligence inputs, special teams were activated, and a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF, with key support from intelligence agencies. The coordinated effort led to the successful neutralization of the Pakistani terrorists.

The Lieutenant Governor commended the synergy between security forces and intelligence agencies, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and eliminating terrorism from the region. (TKM)
