Srinagar, July 30 : The annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra was suspended on Wednesday from both Pahalgam and Baltal base camps following heavy rainfall in the region.

Officials said the decision was taken in view of continuous downpour since early morning, which has made the trekking routes unsafe for movement.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, informed that the Yatra was not allowed to proceed from either the Baltal route or the Nunwan-Chandanwari track due to inclement weather and safety concerns.

So far, over 3.93 lakh pilgrims have performed darshan at the holy cave shrine since the commencement of the Yatra in June.(KNS).
