SRINAGAR, Jul 14 (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned the release of Rs 25.36 crore for payment of honorarium to census functionaries engaged in the upcoming Census 2027 operations.

The Planning Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD), through Government Order No. 75 of 2026 accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) authorized the transfer of Rs 2536.51 lakh to nodal officers, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and municipal commissioners for disbursement to eligible enumerators, supervisors and other officials by July 31, 2026, officials said.

As per the order, the honorarium has been worked out in accordance with norms prescribed in Census Circular No. 7 issued by the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India (ORG) on December 24, 2025. The highest payout of Rs 2.04 crore has been allocated for 2,268 enumerators at Rs 9,000 each, while 3,867 supervisors will receive Rs 9,000 each, totalling Rs 3.48 crore, the document stated.

The order, issued by Commissioner Secretary R. Alice Vaz, stated that 295 charge officers would receive Rs 9,000 each, while 64 SDMs and 165 district-level officials, including District Census Officers and District Informatics Officers, have been allocated honorarium at prescribed rates of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per person.

However, the government has excluded certain categories from the honorarium payout, including enumerators and supervisors under the reserve quota, outsourced personnel such as technical assistants and multi-tasking staff, and any other functionary not covered under ORGI eligibility criteria, the order said.
