Govt to recruit 480 Medical Officers in J-K; 192 posts for open merit

Jammu, Dec 23 : The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has referred 480 posts of Medical Officer for direct recruitment under the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service Rules.

Out of the total 480 posts, 192 are allocated for open merit candidates. The remaining posts are distributed among Scheduled Castes (38), Scheduled Tribe 1 (48), Scheduled Tribe 2 (48), Backward Area (48), Other Backward Classes (39), Economically Weaker Sections (48), and ALC/IB (19).

The department has also specified that selected candidates will not be permitted to continue their postgraduate courses or tenure positions such as Senior Residency or Demonstratorship unless they accept the selection or continue with their ongoing PG/tenure.

Additionally, appointees will be required to serve mandatorily in peripheral and far-flung areas of the Union Territory to ensure equitable healthcare delivery.

The recruitment is in line with SRO 325 of 2013 and subsequent amendments and orders issued in 2020 and 2024.(KNS).
