Srinagar, Sept 01 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu, hours after conducting an aerial and ground survey of several flood-affected areas in the Union Territory.

The meeting, convened to assess the scale of destruction and immediate relief measures, was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and senior officers from the civil administration, police, paramilitary forces and the Army.

Officials said Shah is scheduled to hold two more meetings later in the day at Raj Bhawan, one focusing on urgent relief and rehabilitation efforts, and the other on the impact of the floods on the border security grid, particularly along sensitive stretches.

The Union Home Minister’s visit comes against the backdrop of widespread damage to infrastructure and loss of civilian lives following heavy rains and flash floods across the region.(KNS)
