Srinagar, Aug 13 : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi said that full dress rehearsals for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations were successfully conducted across all districts of the Kashmir Valley.

“Today in Kashmir Valley, in different districts, there was a parade on 15th August, which was a full dress rehearsal of the function,” Birdi told media persons. “In all the districts of Kashmir, this rehearsal was successfully completed, and all the contingents took part.”

Along with the parade rehearsals, security drills were also conducted to ensure readiness for the main event.
“Apart from this, today security arrangements were also done in all the districts of the valley. There was a security rehearsal, which was also successfully completed,” he said.

Regarding the main event in Srinagar, Birdi said, “Here in the city of Srinagar, which is the main program where VVIP salutes take place, Srinagar Police has made multi-tier arrangements.” He added that “contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces will be part of this deployment.”
About Uri infiltration attempt, he said that the matter is being looked into and is related to an ongoing counter-insurgency operation. Further details, he said, will be shared once the matter is fully examined.

On public participation in the celebrations, Birdi said that the arrangements are in place to ensure smooth entry for the public and that citizens are encouraged to attend.“Most of the people who are our residents here should participate in this program and make it successful,” he said.

Responding to a question about the status of the ongoing Akhal operation, he said, “The Akhal operation has now reached the final stage. If there are any further details, we will discuss them with you.”(KNS).

Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdhi, on Wednesday said that full dress rehearsals for the August 15 Independence Day celebrations were successfully conducted in all districts of the Kashmir Valley.

Speaking to media, as per KNS, IGP Birdhi said the rehearsals saw participation from all contingents and were completed smoothly. In Srinagar, where the main function will take place, police in coordination with the Central Armed Police Forces have put in place multi-tier security arrangements, with high-rise spotters and plainclothes personnel deployed to ensure foolproof security.

He said security drills were also carried out in all districts as part of the preparations. “We want maximum residents to attend the Independence Day celebrations and make the event a success,” the IGP said.

On the ongoing Akhal operation, Birdhi informed that it is in its final stage and further details will be shared soon. (KNS)
