Jammu, Jan 17 : Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Saturday described education as a “powerful instrument for transforming the world,” while emphasising that semiconductor technologies represent the future and are deeply integrated into modern life.

Speaking at the National Technical Conclave on ISM at the Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu, the Minister as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) underscored the critical role of semiconductor technologies in shaping Jammu and Kashmir’s economic growth, achieving technological self-reliance, and building a future-ready workforce.

Minister Itoo stated that higher technical institutions have a pivotal responsibility to nurture skilled talent, promote advanced research, and develop industry-aligned curricula to meet the evolving demands of the global semiconductor ecosystem.

She called for strengthened collaboration between academia, industry, and research institutions to build a robust pipeline of engineers and technologists equipped with cutting-edge skills. The Minister also stressed the need to foster start-up culture within engineering institutions to translate innovative research into scalable, commercial solutions. (KNS)
