Jammu, Oct 25 (KNS): The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has recorded a significant increase in passenger revenue following a series of special ticket checking drives conducted across the division.

Under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Uchit Singhal, the drives were held at various railway stations to ensure comfortable travel and prevent unauthorized travel, particularly during the festive season.

According to officials, on October 24, 2025, a team headed by Singhal, including Assistant Commercial Manager Manoj Meena, Chief Ticket Inspector Abdul Rashid, and other ticket checking staff, carried out extensive inspections on both up and down trains.

During the campaign, fines exceeding ₹7 lakh were collected in a single day by penalizing 1,200 passengers traveling without valid tickets.

In the last ten days of the festive season, the division collected more than ₹32 lakh in fines from around 2,500 ticketless passengers, reflecting the success of the intensified drive.

Speaking about the initiative, Uchit Singhal said, “Our efforts to strengthen ticket checking during the festivals have yielded positive results. It has helped increase revenue and ensured a better travel experience for genuine passengers.”

He further added that although the Jammu Division is newly formed and faces a shortage of staff, the ticket checking teams have shown remarkable dedication and efficiency in executing their duties.(KNS)
