Gulmarg, JAN 11 : Haji Syed Salman Chishti, a custodian of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, commended the Union Government and the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department for providing excellent facilities for visitors described Kashmir as the “exalted valley” (Vaad-e-Ulviya).
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chishti highlighted the seamless arrangements that have driven a significant influx of tourists from across India and around the world this winter.
“The Tourism Department’s efforts have attracted a global audience this winter, and their comprehensive arrangements deserve full credit,” he said. He also commended the tourism department’s successful winter festival.
Drawing a parallel to Ajmer’s spiritual significance, Chishti said that just as over 1.4 lakh devotees gathered for the Urs of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz, Kashmir also exhibits a profound spiritual presence. “Ceremonies were held in Khanqahs, Dargahs, and Masjids across Kashmir on the 6th of Rajab to disseminate his teachings, for Kashmir is itself a piece of heaven and is globally revered as the ‘Valley of Saints,'” he said.
He characterised Kashmir as a land hallowed by saints and a beacon of communal harmony. “This valley is a centre of love, unity, and humanity an exemplar for the entire world. I congratulate all Kashmiris for preserving the spirit of Kashmiriyat through their dedication,” Chishti said.
He further added with a prayer for the prosperity of Kashmir and the nation in 2026, expressing hopes for a year of hope, unity, and progress. “The authorities, especially the Tourism Department, have ensured top-tier arrangements where every facet of tourist safety and security is up to the mark,” he added.
