Jaipur, July 10 : Khyber Cement has been awarded the prestigious 5-star rating by the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) under its Sustainable Development Framework (SDF), marking a major milestone in the company’s commitment to responsible and scientific mining practices.

The 5-star rating — awarded only to mines scoring over 90% across all SDF parameters — recognizes excellence in scientific mining, environmental performance, health and safety, rehabilitation, welfare measures, and community engagement. This honour places Khyber Cement among the top 95 mines in India, out of more than 1,250 assessed nationwide.

The award ceremony was held at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur in the presence of Union Minister for Coal & Mines, G. Kishan Reddy; Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma; IBM’s Controller General In-charge, Peeyush Narayan Sharma; and Chief Controller of Mines, Pankaj Kulshreshtha.

Representing Khyber Cement at the national-level event were Director of Operations, Riaz Trumboo; Chief of Mines, Myser Khan; and Technical Advisor – Mines, Samiullah Sheikh. Their presence underscored the company’s strong leadership and operational excellence.

Speaking on the occasion, Riaz Trumboo said, “This award reflects years of commitment, innovation, and operational discipline. At Khyber Cement, green practices are embedded in our operations. The 5-star recognition validates that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Echoing the sentiment, Umar Tramboo, Director of Corporate & Strategy, stated, “Sustainability is not a slogan for us — it’s our way of working. This recognition is a proud milestone that encourages us to innovate while staying deeply rooted in our responsibility to the environment and community.”

Chief of Mines, Myser Khan, added, “True sustainability is achieved when operations, people, and nature thrive together. This honour drives us to keep setting higher standards not just for ourselves, but for the entire industry.”

Technical Advisor Samiullah Sheikh noted, “Khyber Cement has always stood for integrity, innovation, and impact. This recognition reflects the values we live by daily, where quality and responsibility go hand in hand.”

Khyber Cement’s 5-star rating highlights its leadership in ethical and environment-conscious mining practices. What makes Khyber truly stand out is its integration of nature with industry — a philosophy visible even in the lavender blooms that surround its plant, symbolising harmony between progress and the planet.

As India moves towards greener industrial practices, Khyber Cement continues to prove that performance and purpose can coexist — setting an inspiring benchmark for the cement and mining sectors. (KNS)
