Srinagar, July 09 : Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Thursday visited the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk here to take stock of facilities for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, emphasising that no devotee should face any inconvenience during their pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.
Interacting with officials and pilgrims during his visit, the LG directed the administration to ensure round-the-clock care for every devotee of Lord Shiva. “From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It must be our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir divine and comfortable,” Sinha told officials.
The Lieutenant Governor conducted a comprehensive review of accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, firefighting measures, and other essential services put in place by various departments for the safety and comfort of the yatris.
Noting a significant surge in footfall this year, Sinha said the figures from the past week indicate that the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has witnessed a greater number of devotees compared to last year. “This surge is not only a blessing for our spiritual heritage but also a positive sign for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, giving fresh momentum to the local economy,” he observed.
In a push for local craftsmanship, the LG stressed that the rich handicrafts and handloom products of Jammu and Kashmir should travel across the country. “I want this unique heritage to find a place in every devotee’s home. This will honor our artisans and strengthen the spirit of the One District One Product campaign, weaving together faith, culture, and prosperity,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor lauded the coordinated efforts of the District Administration, Shrine Board, Police, security forces, and other stakeholders. He called for maintaining close coordination and vigilance in crowd management, ensuring a hassle-free registration process, and disseminating timely information updates to pilgrims throughout the yatra. He also directed strict legal action against those involved in fraudulent registration practices.
Sinha was accompanied by DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, CEO of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, IGP Kashmir Shri V K Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Srinagar Shri Anshul Garg, DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey, SSP Srinagar Dr. GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shri Akshay Labroo, and Municipal Commissioner Srinagar Shri Faz Lul Haseeb, among other senior officers.
