Srinagar, Aug 30 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Saturday said that the local Pandit community has been playing an important role in reviving the Ganga Yatra for many years and that the administration is committed to supporting the pilgrimage.

Speaking on the sidelines of the annual Gangbal Yatra, Garg said, “As we know that our local Pandit community has been reviving the Ganga Yatra for many years. Even today, a team of Pandits is starting the Yatra. We have received an invitation from the local committee headed by General Secretary Vinod ji for this Yatra.”

He added that all necessary arrangements have been made this year with the support of multiple agencies. “DC, Police and our Army team facilitate Yatris every year. Similar arrangements have been made this year as well. I would like to extend my best wishes to all the Yatris,” he said according to KNS.

The Divisional Commissioner also praised the security and support teams for their role in ensuring smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. “I would like to congratulate our support teams who are going with SSP in his leadership. We hope that such pilgrimages will continue in the future as well,” he said.

The Gangbal Yatra, an annual pilgrimage to the alpine lake situated in Ganderbal district, holds deep religious significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community and is conducted with the joint support of civil administration, police, and Army.(KNS)
