Mumbai June 23 : Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and BJP General Secretary, attended a tribute event in Mumbai to mark Balidan Diwas—the death anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The programme was organized by the Deep Kamal Foundation at Bandra, the same location where the first session of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held.

Speaking at the event, Sunil Sharma said it was a matter of pride and honour to pay homage to Dr. Mukherjee, calling him a great patriot, thinker, and martyr. “His life is an inspiration for every Indian. His principles and sacrifice continue to guide us to serve the nation with dedication,” Sharma said.

He thanked the Deep Kamal Foundation for inviting him and giving the opportunity to remember Dr. Mukherjee’s strong stand for national unity and integrity. Sharma said Dr. Mukherjee’s ideals are especially important for the youth and political leaders in Jammu & Kashmir.

On this emotional occasion, Sunil Sharma also honoured Veer Mata Smt. Jyoti Bhai Nayak ji, the proud mother of Shaheed Murali Nayak, who lost his life in Operation Sindhur. Sharma said, “Touching her feet was a deeply emotional moment. The country will always remain grateful to such brave families.”

Maharashtra’s Minister for IT, Ashish Shelar, also attended the event. He praised Dr. Mukherjee’s legacy, especially his fight against Article 370. “His efforts laid the foundation for national unity and strong ideology. His courage still inspires generations,” Shelar said.

The programme concluded with a strong message of unity and respect, as BJP leaders pledged to carry forward the legacy of Dr. Mukherjee and honour the sacrifices made for the country’s sovereignty. (KNS)
