Srinagar, Apr 8 : People’s Democratic Party president (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday welcomed the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the US in the context of the Israel conflict, expressing hope that the truce would pave the way for lasting peace and regional stability.

Addressing a press briefing here, Mehbooba Mufti as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the temporary halt in hostilities appeared to be the result of intense diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan playing a key mediating role in de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue between the sides.

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister emphasised that Pakistan’s involvement highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in resolving global conflicts, asserting that dialogue and sustained diplomatic engagement remained the only viable path forward.

Mehbooba Mufti also urged the international community to support and strengthen such peace initiatives, stressing that the ceasefire should serve as a stepping stone toward a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the conflict.(KNS)
