Srinagar, Apr 25 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Saturday accused the National Conference (NC)-led dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir of deepening public discontent, alleging the removal of Urdu and other local languages from revenue records and failures on key governance issues.

Asserting that people have “given up hope” on the NC, Iltija Mufti claimed that her mother and PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, is now viewed by the public as the only political leader in the Union Territory who speaks the truth.

“There is no hope. People have given up. They feel that Mehbooba Mufti is the only person in J&K who speaks the truth. People are very dissatisfied with the NC. They have removed our language from revenue records,” Iltija Mufti told KNS.

Taking a swipe at the government over its perceived governance deficits, she also listed persistent unemployment and unmet promises of electricity bill waivers as key failures.

“Young boys come to me seeking bill exemptions. The chief minister says people should not hold them accountable. That tells you everything — they are not able to deliver,” she added. (KNS)
