New Delhi, July 12 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the Rozgar Mela via video conferencing and distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth in various central government departments and organisations.

Calling it a day of new beginnings, Modi congratulated the appointees and said they are now part of a common mission of serving the nation, guided by the principle of “Citizen First.”

He highlighted India’s demographic and democratic strengths, saying the youth are the country’s greatest capital, and the government is committed to turning this potential into a force for national development.

“During my recent visit to five countries, the power of India’s youth was widely recognised. Agreements signed in sectors like defence, digital tech, energy, and rare earths will create fresh opportunities for young Indians both at home and abroad,” Modi said.

He noted that the job landscape is changing rapidly, with innovation, startups, and research creating new opportunities. Modi expressed pride in India’s young generation for stepping forward with vision and ambition.

To boost employment in the private sector, the Prime Minister announced the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, under which the government will provide ?15,000 to first-time employees in the private sector. With a budget of ?1 lakh crore, this scheme is expected to generate around 3.5 crore new jobs.

Highlighting the impact of Make in India and the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) Scheme, he said over 11 lakh jobs have been created through these initiatives. Electronics manufacturing alone has grown fivefold in 11 years, reaching ? 11 lakh crore, with around 300 mobile manufacturing units now operating in India.

He also mentioned India’s rise as a global leader in defence production and locomotive manufacturing, along with $40 billion in FDI in the auto sector, creating thousands of jobs and new factories.

Referring to welfare-driven job creation, Modi cited an ILO report stating that over 90 crore Indians have benefited from welfare schemes in the last decade. He explained how schemes like PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana have not only improved lives but also created lakhs of jobs, especially in rural areas.

Modi also praised initiatives like Drone Didi, PM Vishwakarma, and PM SVANidhi, which are helping women, artisans, and street vendors achieve financial independence. He said 1.5 crore women have already become ‘Lakhpati Didis’, and the target is 3 crore.

He underlined that in the past decade, 25 crore people have come out of poverty, a transformation made possible through employment and welfare programs. “That’s why institutions like the World Bank are today praising India as a country with rising equality and economic opportunity,” he said.

Calling the current phase a “Mahayagya of Development”, Modi urged youth to lead the mission of employment generation and poverty removal with energy and dedication.

Concluding his address, he invoked the spirit of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” — treating every citizen with respect — and wished the new appointees a successful journey in public service.(KNS)
