Srinagar, Jul 28 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said 39 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured in a road accident at Ganiwan in Ganderbal district and directed health officials to ensure their best possible treatment.
In a post on X, LG Sinha said the pilgrims were returning after performing darshan at the holy cave shrine when the accident took place earlier in the morning.
“Spoke with Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal and health officials and inquired about the health condition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims injured in the unfortunate road accident earlier this morning at Ganiwan, Ganderbal,” the Lt Governor said.
He said the injured were undergoing treatment at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and all necessary assistance was being provided to them.
“I have directed the health officials to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care. I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees,” Sinha added.
The annual Amarnath Yatra is underway in the Kashmir Valley with thousands of pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage to the 3,888-metre-high cave shrine. (KNS)
