Srinagar, Dec 6 : Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Saturday said the Jammu and Kashmir government has already taken up the issue of age relaxation for JKAS aspirants, but an “unnecessary delay” in clearing the proposal has created anxiety among thousands of candidates whose preliminary examination is now just days away.

Speaking about the concerns raised by aspirants, Itoo as ,per KNS said , Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had immediately taken note of the issue and forwarded the age-relaxation file to the Lieutenant Governor for approval. However, she said the file has been “stuck for so long” that the exam schedule has now arrived, leaving aspirants uncertain about their eligibility.

The minister said many candidates were unable to travel due to severe air traffic disruptions and added that the ongoing delay in processing the relaxation request has further added to their stress.

“Since the file has not been cleared yet, the Chief Minister has written to the Public Service Commission asking for the JKAS prelims to be postponed,” she said. “The aim is to ensure that students get a fair chance to appear once all issues, including age relaxation, are resolved.”

Itoo further said that new information suggests the file is under examination because of certain queries raised at an official level.

The minister acknowledged that aspirants have been calling repeatedly, expressing worry over the uncertainty.

She said the government is trying to ensure that students are not disadvantaged because of administrative delays or travel disruptions.

She added that postponing the exam would allow candidates to prepare properly and appear without fear or confusion regarding their eligibility.(KNS)
