Jammu, October 13 (TKM): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday chaired the 36th meeting of the Executive Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) at Raj Bhawan, Jammu.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellors of Jammu University, Kashmir University, and Ahmedabad University, along with senior officials and members of the Executive Council.

During the meeting, several key academic and administrative issues were discussed, and a number of important proposals received in-principle approval.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha directed the University authorities to review their ongoing initiatives and update the curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. He said the goal should be to make SMVDU a top-ranked educational institution at the national level.

> “The University must focus on lifelong learning, industry collaboration, research, innovation and skill-based education to prepare students for global challenges,” the LG said.

He also stressed on increasing student enrolment, strengthening faculty and staff, promoting innovation and patents, and introducing new academic programs from the next session.

The LG directed SMVDU to set up a dedicated Faculty of Languages offering integrated courses in Hindi, Dogri, French, and German. He said students pursuing foreign languages and technical courses should also study local languages like Hindi and Dogri.

He further instructed the University to ensure complete digitalisation of all records and processes to enhance transparency and efficiency.

The meeting also reviewed the status of ongoing construction projects, recruitment, implementation of NEP-2020, and digitisation of the student life cycle through the e-Samarth dashboard.

The Council was informed that SMVDU has been recognised as a ‘TCS Priority College’ by Tata Consultancy Services for three years under its campus placement programme.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar presented various agenda items for approval and expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor and the Council members for their guidance and support.(TKM)
