Sopore, Apr 15 : Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals for spreading rumours and misleading information on social media platforms with the intent to disturb public peace, officials said on Wednesday.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that FIR No. 93/2026 has been lodged at Police Station Sopore under relevant sections. Investigation into the matter is underway, the official said.

In an advisory, Sopore Police urged the public to refrain from creating, sharing or amplifying unverified content on social media, warning that such actions will attract legal consequences.

Citizens have been advised to rely only on official sources for information, the police officer said. (KNS)
