Tangmarg, June 17 : A tourist vehicle met with a road accident near the Tangmarg Public Park on Wednesday morning after its brakes reportedly failed, causing panic among passengers and locals alike. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a tourist tempo, bearing registration number JK01AV3629, was on its way from the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg to Srinagar when the driver lost control over the vehicle due to an alleged brake failure. The vehicle veered off the road and met with an accident near the Public Park in Tangmarg earlier in the morning.

Eyewitnesses said that the tempo hit a roadside barrier before coming to a halt, averting what could have been a major tragedy. Several passengers sustained minor injuries in the accident and were immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital Tangmarg for first aid and medical attention. Officials confirmed that all the injured are out of danger.

Soon after the incident, police personnel and local residents reached the spot and launched a swift rescue operation. All tourists were safely evacuated from the damaged vehicle. Senior police officials also visited the site and took stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Police have urged drivers, especially those operating tourist vehicles on hilly terrain, to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and strictly adhere to safety norms to avoid such incidents in future.
