Srinagar, June 25 : Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday issued a traffic advisory for Srinagar city in view of Youm-i-Ashoora, which will be observed on June 26, with multiple diversion points and restrictions put in place to ensure smooth movement of traffic during the main Zuljinaah procession from Bota Kadal to Imambara Zadibal.

According to an official communiqué from the office of the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, vehicular movement towards Zadibal and adjoining areas will remain regulated throughout the day. Diversions will be enforced at Firdous Cinema, Mill Stop, Lal Bazar, and Bota Kadal for traffic heading towards the procession route.

The advisory stated that motorists proceeding towards Hawal Road shall take a right turn at Firdous Cinema towards Ali Masjid via Sazgaripora. Vehicles coming from Karan Nagar and Nallamar en route to Soura will be restricted to Ali Jan Road, with no right turn permitted at Ali Masjid.

Traffic originating from Kalai Andhar will not be allowed to proceed towards Zadibal from Firdous Cinema and will be diverted towards Sazgaripora or Nowhatta. Similarly, commuters coming from Soura shall not be permitted beyond Nallabal towards Zadibal and are advised to take Zoonimar or Awanitbhaan Road instead.

Motorists from Lal Bazar will be barred from moving towards Botakadal and must opt for Mallabagh or interior roads to reach Soura and onward destinations, the advisory added.

The traffic police have appealed to the general public to refrain from unnecessary travel in and around procession-affected areas to avoid inconvenience. “Inconvenience if any is regretted,” the statement said. (KNS)
