Srinagar, Jan 25 : Train services on the Baramulla–Banihal section of the Kashmir rail line were affected on Sunday due to adverse weather conditions, officials said.

Train number 74626, scheduled to depart from Baramulla to Banihal at 7 am, was short-terminated at Budgam owing to snowfall along the route.

Similarly, train number 74614, also running from Baramulla to Banihal with a scheduled departure time of 7.10 am, was short-terminated at Budgam, they said.

Officials further said that train number 74615, operating from Banihal to Baramulla, was cancelled for the day due to heavy snowfall impacting track conditions and operational safety on the section.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety amid continued snowfall and accumulation of snow along the railway track, the officials said, adding that railway staff have been deployed to monitor the situation and carry out necessary clearance and safety checks.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status before commencing their journey and to cooperate with authorities as services will be restored once weather conditions improve.(KNS).
